What is NHIS?
The National Health Insurance Scheme was established by the government of Ghana in 2003. The program is a form of national health insurance established to provide equitable access and financial coverage for basic health care services to Ghanaian citizens.
Several categories of health care facilities have been credentialed by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to provide services to subscribers. These are:
- Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS)
- Maternity homes
- Health centres
- Clinics
- Polyclinics
- Primary hospitals (district hospitals, CHAG primary hospitals, quasi- Government primary hospitals and private primary hospitals)
- Secondary hospitals
- Tertiary hospitals
- Pharmacies
- Licensed chemical shops
- Diagnostic centres
You must however visit your primary provider first when you fall ill. If necessary, he/she will refer you to a higher level facility. This ensures that regional and teaching hospitals are able to concentrate on more complicated diseases, to reduce overcrowding and ensure quality of care at all levels.
How to renew Health Card Online?
NHIS membership cards remain valid for up to one year. This means that annual renewal is required. You should renew your health insurance card a month before it expires. Your NHIS membership will be deactivated if you do not renew after a year since expiry.
The National Health Insurance Scheme membership has introduced the mobile renewal service that allows members to renew their membership without any much hassle. This is because the government has successfully deployed the NHIS Mobile Renewal Service in all districts across the country. My name is Hailey Garcia and I am from New Jersey. My herpes virus turned to war after 2 years of living with it. I have tried different medical procedures to cure my herpes but to no avail. Most people think herpes is only a minor skin irritation of which herpes has long term effects on health and passes through the bloodstream and can be easily contracted through sexual intercourse. I knew I had herpes from the first day I started feeling itchy in my pubic area and the pain was very unbearable. I couldn’t stand it anymore. After 2 years of trying other means to get rid of it, I had to contact Doctor Odunga to help me with a permanent cure. I saw his email and whats-app number from a testimony I read online from a lady who was also helped by him in curing infertility problems, I had faith and contacted him. He assured me of his work and I ordered his herbal medicine. Within 5 days, I didn’t feel any pain anymore and within 2 weeks, my skin was all cleared and smooth. I am very grateful to you sir and I write this testimony as others have done to bring those having faith to you sir. If you have herpes or other similar disease and you want it cured, kindly contact Doctor Odunga, Whats-App (wa.me/+2348167159012) OR Email odungaspelltemple@gmail.com
please kindly mail me the procedures about the renew NHIS card online.
