What is Magnesium Bisglycinate?
Magnesium Bisglycinate utilizes magnesium bound to the amino acid glycine, which facilitates intestinal absorption of magnesium. It is known to have better relaxing effect than other forms because it is bound to amino acid glycine known for helping relaxation. Some experts claim that Magnesium Bisglycinate chelate appears to be the safest and most absorbable form of magnesium. Magnesium Bisglycinate, is not only a very well absorbed form of magnesium, but also doesn’t impose a laxative effect. For this reason, it is more suitable for people with inflamed and oversensitive lining of the colon which still needs magnesium but not the laxative one. At the same time Magnesium Bisglycinate may help relief constipation by helping increase production of the relaxing and calming hormone Serotonin known to regulate intestinal motility.
Unlike many other magnesium bisglycinate products, which often consist of a none-reactive and not chelated blend of magnesium compound and l-glycine, the HealthAid Magnesium Bisglycinate is in a 100% pure chelated and fully reactive form, on average, up to ten times more absorbable than standard magnesium. It is very important to know that not all magnesium bisglycinate supplements are the same as many of them contain only cheap magnesium, such as oxide, mixed with glycine. These two ingredients are not chemically bound but only mixed in a capsule or tablet hoping that in the GI tract this mixture will eventually make magnesium glycinate. Those who practice it maintain that it has been done to increase the bioavailability, but in reality it results in a much lower absorption.
The HealthAid® chelated Magnesium Bisglycinate is fortified with Vitamin B6 which facilitates cellular uptake of magnesium, increases its effectiveness and limits excretion. It was found that supplemental magnesium combined with Vitamin B6 was more effective than magnesium alone. Apart from improving the absorption and effectiveness of magnesium, Vitamin B6 contributes to normal function of the nervous & immune system, normal psychological function, regulation of hormonal balance and hormonal activity in both men and women, and reduction of tiredness & fatigue.
Key Health Benefits of Magnesium
Due to the severe soil depletion, poor dietary habits, use of popular stimulants, and chronic stress millions suffer from magnesium deficiency without even knowing it. It is estimated that 80% of us are deficient in magnesium. In addition, magnesium deficiency is often misdiagnosed because it does not show up in blood tests as only 1% of the body’s magnesium is stored in the blood.
Magnesium is an essential mineral that contributes to normal muscle, brain and nervous system function, maintenance of healthy bones & teeth, reduction of tiredness & fatigue, normal energy yielding metabolism, electrolyte balance, and protein synthesis. Magnesium is important to support a healthy immune system and cardiovascular function. Due to its ability to relax muscles magnesium supplements can be highly beneficial for people who suffer from muscle cramps including those with spastic colon, stomach cramps, migraine headaches, and women with excessive uterine contractions.
In human body magnesium is necessary to activate all the enzymes that convert vitamin Dinto its final form. In people who are deficient in magnesium vitamin D supplementation brings no benefits even if very high doses of vitamin D are taken over a long period of time!
