Carbocisteine is a mucolytic that reduces the viscosity of sputum to relieve the symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchiectasis through the expulsion of the mucus. Carbocisteine should never be used with antitussives that dry up bronchial secretions.

• one measuring cup three times daily
